    basic machining question

here's and even more basic machining question about rotary tables. Is there a lot of backlash in a rotary table? I see that nobody, meaning phase 2 yuasa the main brands ext. claim anything about backlash. what could one expect before buying? Is there a lot of difference between an import 8in rotary table and a domestic? Or will either get the job done. thanks in advance

There would be some backlash in either one, you could expect less in the the high quality units, It is common practice that once you start a rotation not to back off and re-start. This essentially negates any backlash. The Phase II and I would presume the higher quality units as well have some backlash adjustment, the Phase II I have does not remove it all.
