Goto google video and watch each of them in process, you'll get an idea.
Manual turret lathe is used for something that requires a lot of drilling or threading opps where the turret is loaded with diffrent tools, such as a small diameter drill, push it back and index to a large diameter drill, push it back and index to a tap, push it back and index to a hollow mill or boring bar, push it back and index to a OD tapping head, then you can also do the normal lathe opps using the cross slides.
Not the most effiecent machines, but if you already own one, or are doing one-offs, they are practical, especially if you can't keep a CNC lathe running for 40 hours a week.
Single spindle automatic screw machines????
Screw machines are usually 6 or 8 spindle and index the part through the 6 or 8 operations, each acting simultaniously, making a very effiecient manufactuing process for very high quanity production, like 500,000 parts.
CNC machines are just Computer Numeric Control and is a very genaric term today. Just basically means that the manufacturing process is automated using a computer controlled electronics, 99.9% of the time using standard fanuc G-code programming.
