| The stock 9X20 motor is rated at 12 amps when wired to a 120 vac supply. The speed control has a 20 amp rating. I'm not sure if it will run the motor or not since the type of motor is the critical factor. The controller instructions say "Do not use on ac capacitor start induction motors, so it probably won't work. I have only used the controller on brushed motors such as laminate trimmers, routers, and mini lathes. |

| This is a total shot in the dark but maybe look into a variable voltage power supply. Or you could always call the manufacturer of the lathe n try and get an engineer on the horn n see what he/she says.

| If this is the common 120v single split phase cap. start induction motor that is normally fitted, there is no satisfactory way to regulate the speed on these motors. You either need to go with a 3 phase motor using a VFD with 240 1 phase input, or a DC motor and controller. I would not suggest putting a Universal motor on, which is what the controller shown is intended for. Al.
