Thanks for the invitation to the forum. I am a new member but have visited the site many times. I have been cutting metal over 30 years, programming using Mastercam for about 7 years.

I have a serious interest in getting a CNC mill for my home shop. The Smithy 1240 package has caught my interest more than any other so far. After reading the information here, I don't know the best route to take.

It is most important that I make smart decisions on the investment. My intended use for the machine would be to do motorcycle modifications/custom parts from aluminum, brass and stainless. Also general hobby type work. ( I have a couple of Harleys)

If someone has advice on their expierences with Smithy, it would be greatly appreciated. The new EZ Trol II sounds good from what they advertise. The over all 1240 package is along the line of what I want. I am not sure if I want to go with Smithy.
