So last week I was sharpening 3 wood chissels, setting the two top rake angles and finishing off on a Czech oilstone (which I've had for like 10 years) then leather strop. Today I've had three collegues come in my lab with knives which they wanted sharpened for their Xmas dinner carving. "Here, I don't suppose you could just..." "Would there be any chance you could..." "Would it be possible to..." lol, it's nice to make folk happy ![]() btw, they're now all sharper than a barber's razor, you could shave with these knives, you can cut a cigarette roling paper lengthwise with them. I've told my collegues to be careful with them.

| lol DJR, Update... what I usualy do during sharpening of knives/ chissels is draw my fingers lightly and at right angles to the cutting edge with virtualy no force, you can feel how sharp it is, it's like a whisper across your skin. About an hour ago, one of my collegues chap decided to see just how "sharp" was "sharp" and decided to run his thumb lengthwise along the cutting edge. ROFL fetch the Elastoplasts! Claret everywhere. I had to laugh, even though it was my lab and I gotta mop it up (hope he aint got aids). The bloke is an idiot! When I said "sharp" I meant SHARP, capital letters, bold font with dayglow exclamation marks. I even wrapped them up in newspaper and stuck a note on them saying "Caution! Sharp!* But he had to check lmfao. lol numpties. I hate idiots, they should be culled! Worrying that there may be a possibility that he will, at some point, breed.

| You had three requesters. It is only logical that they fell on the standard deviation for intelligence; one really bright, one so-so, and one dumb as a post (now with an Elastoplast on his finger).

| I live in Wisconsin. Ice fishing is popular (in winter, of course) Your wounded cohort is like the fellows from Illinois who come "up north" to do some ice fishing. They like to jump on the ice to see how thick it is. Dick Z

| You're really not being fair about this. After all, he probably hasn't ever had a sharp knife before. I have always had to ask someone who could to sharpen knives for me because I just stinking can not manage to hold the same angle long enough to finish without sanding/grinding/stoning/whatever the almost sharp edge into oblivion. |
