    Spindle taper differences

    Hello everyone

Being relatively new to machining I was wondering what are the differences between the types of spindle tapers used (Cat 40, Cat 50, HSK). By just looking at a toolholder, what sets each type of taper apart? Advantages/disadvantages to each type?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to being a part of this great site!

You can also check Machinery's handbook or many, many, many other fine publications.
