Is it possible to cut a face groove on a Okuma cnc lathe that has a specific radius at the bottom with a smaller groover with a smaller radius. I am planning to rough it out and then profile the outside like a contour. I think that as long as my feed is slow enough I should be able to do it. I will be using Mastercam X3 to program this. Any feedback will help. Thank You. |

| Yes, you have to use face grooving tools, Iscar and manchester has good ones as well as sandvik. face grooving tools come in specific widths that it will cut you should only need one for your application ( as its a goove in a groove) if the groove's ar not to deep you can use a toplock grooveing tool and modify the insert to you have clearance |
