Hello everyone, this is my first post here, so I guess this is an intro in addition to my dilemma... I'm right in the middle of machining an aluminum layup tool for an air duct on a plane, very large & awkward, and ALL 3D surfaces. so I left towers on the ends of my block, locating for the 2nd side is no problem, it's supporting the part to cut the towers off at the end that I'm going to have a problem with. A shop I used to work at we would use this orange-ish powder that you mix with water, into a 'mud', fill the cavity under your 3d part, and it would harden into a very rigid nest type fixture. Very handy! The owner called it tooling stone, but now that I need to find it, I can't get any results from anywhere by that name. Does anybody know what I'm talking about, and what it's proper name is? Thank you all, & sorry the post is so long ![]() -Ryan- |

| We use a substance called Rigidax for machining impeller blades. It very similar to a heavy duty wax. We simply heat it up, pour it into a mold and let it set. When your done, heat it up and melt it out. It's kind of messy to machine, but it sounds like it would work for what you're trying to do.

hi friend, I have few information related to tooling is that from MAKO™ saw blades to polishing bricks and tool holders. Salem Stone is also the exclusive representative of Diamut diamond tooling for both CNC and manual applications. These innovative diamond tools are quickly becoming the industry “standard” for performance. |
