I need some help. I have a customer who wants me to make ada signs out of 304 ss. All i need to do is drill some dots for the braille dots, that's with an .06 drill. So Tooling? SC,HSS, is a coating going to really be beneficial? I have an option on machines, 4896 Shopsabre 3 axis router or Roland EGX-600 (this is what we do all our ada on, but can it handle the steel?) |

| Don't quote me, but I don't think they coat cobalt drills, spot drills or center drills. Not sure why, good question, but AFAIK, cobalt tooling doesn't have the option of coating. Good stuff though. Better than HSS, used mostly on SS and Nickle alloys, but can't take as much heat as Carbide, yet doesn't chip out nearly as easily, hence the need for a good flood of coolant to drill with carbide on a CNC. |

| Spot drill or center drill. When you say "drill", most people will hand you a "jobbers leanth drill", too much flex, if you just need divits for brail, use a spot drill or center drill, much shorter and ridgid. |
