Newbie- Whhat would be the best process for executing knife designs?

Why would you use a mill to make a knife blade? Every knife blade I know of that is in production is made by laser then grinding fixtures, then hand finishing...???

What would you use a mill for? Unless it's available and cheap, i.e., at your disposal?

Not directed towards you Pesky, wondering why anyone would suggest milling?

Could even do plasma or waterjet might be best to start with... Just a possiblility. Do you use CAD? Draw up your designs and put them in the RFQ section, see how much it will cost to cut the blanks. Reseach what material is best and make sure it's available in sheet/plate, or find a source for it just incase the supplier you choose doesn't have a local source.
