Smile Proper seating MT3?

I have a new lathe I'm converting to CNC; tailstock MT3
I have a new drill press on the way, nice piece, Ret $2000+; MT3
I have various chucks, many drills, 3 tapping heads, all MT3.
I never am very sure about how to seat the tapers.
In the past tools have come loose, which makes a mess of the taper, tools are sometimes unbelievably difficult to remove, sledge hammed stuff.
Not only do results seem erratic, the available methods seem irresponsible.
Do I really want to hit the end of a brand new drill?
The housing of the tapping head looks like aluminum or maybe worse, I don't dare hit it.
The chucks, well if I pull the jaws back I suppose I can hit it.
I really hate the thought of messing up the brand new tapers.
So, what is the correct procedure???
Ozzie

On my lathe, all I do is make sure the male and female parts are free from dirt and oil. I then slide the tool rapidly into the taper and it stays just fine for me. If I really need to set it hard for some reason, I will move the tailstock up to the chuck(chuck not spinning of course) and lock it down and use the tailstock handle to force it in, like a vise.

To remove the tool from the tail stock you just retract the tail stock all the way and it should just kick out. It is designed that way.

On the drill press, it should never come out. You cant side load anything unless it is held in place with a draw bar.
