Hello everyone, sorry for the nubie question, but I was looking for a end mill holder to purchase, and just found out that there is a R8 end mill holder with the draw bar size of 7/16" 20 and a Morse Taper end mill holder with draw bar size of 3/8" 16 Wanted to know what the difference in the two holders. End mill holders are for a Harbor Freight 33686 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=33686 Thanks, Charles |

Thanks for the reply. I am using a mt3 chuck, and it is coming off as it is. I guess I can remove the morse taper holder from the list. Thanks again, Charles |

| For your machine you will need to buy R-8 tooling only or get a set of R-8 collets if you don't have them already and then you can hold just about anything. A good set of R-8 endmill holders is a nice addition and they will allow you to maintain the same z height every time the tool is removed and reinstalled. If you are using a chuck, and it is probably has a Jacobs taper, they will come off because it is not designed to be side loaded as in milling but to be vertically loaded as in drilling. I hope I understood what you were asking and you understand what I said. Welcome to the wonderful world of machining and remember, we were all nubies once. P.S. As you saw a morse taper can have a drawbar depending on the machine and tooling will not fall out when it is held in this manner.
