Based on what I've seen, .125 per side should be okay, much over that will likely start popping inserts now and then.
You can do more with single-sided CNMM's, but only get two cutting edges.
Hello,
Excluding workpiece rigidity and machine limitations.
What is the max DOC I can take with a CNMG 432 insert on OD cutting ?
As of right now, machining 4140 at 500 SFM at .100 DOC ( .200 on Dia. ) at .015 per rev. with coolant at about 60% spindle load.
What do you guys think ?
Regards.
Tom
