Bits of swarf (splinters/ chips) in fingers?

And you got no tweezers?

Use your vernier/ digital calipers.

One of them tips that I thought: "Why the hell didn't I think of that!".I usualy have to wait till I get home and get the me girlfriend's tweezers.

This comes with full credit and resepct to Frank Ford. Here's a link to his piccy. Hope Mr Ford dun mind me posting it but it's one of them simple, really useful tips.

Another thing that sometimes works if it's steel are those rare earth magnets. The larger ones are extremely strong and will pull slivers out.
Great tip on the calipers. Digital ones work too, but you have to insure they are on the inch scale.

Use fine emery cloth. Stroking it in a direction that tends to pull the splinter out causes the grit to catch on it and out comes the splinter.

My best buddy for chips and splinters is fingernail clippers, real fine edge and they work quite well for moving a bit of skin when need be.

Gee I sould have saved all the metal I pulled out of my body over these 40 odd years, I could get a nice bit of cash,what with scrap prices being so hi .

My prefered method has been to use cuticle cutters,they are very sharp and very precise,or baby fingernail cutters they ain't bed eather.

Excellent idea on the emory cloth....I have found that if it does'nt come out, it least it makes the "no seeums" not annoy the **** out of you any longer. Also do not ever forget Gods greatest gift to Machinists.......Super Glue......Yes Super glue.. Next time you get one of those paper cut type slices (near daily) use a little dab and all is well. Almost as good as new skin...(a slight belt sander incident).. almost..
On a serious note, as long as the cut is not deep it is safe. Not at all different from what they use at the ER, sterility aside.

Geof will become famous soon enough

Using Super Glue to 'stitch' a cut is not completely crazy;

Actually the bummer was mentioned in one of them. I am not sure which would be most inconvenient; not being able to see or not being able to s**t.
