Newbie here

Hi all,
I'm new here but couldn't find the introduction forum so I'll start here.
Just getting into machining, I only have little knowledge about it and mostly from watching it done.

I'm looking into purchasing a lathe but nothing super big. I'm interested in the Grizzly G0602 is this a decent lathe for the beginner. I have a project that requires making pullies that are 1.75od and about 3/4 thick, I'm sure once this project moves on I have a bunch more uses for the lathe.

I guess I'm asking for recommendations from the guys and gals that have "been there done that"

Thanks for any help

Oh and if I should post this somewhere else sorry but it looked like a good spot

Sorry you haven't gotten a reply. I can't help you either as all my experience is with machine shop lathes. Have you tried posting on the "Mini Lathe" forum?

Hi radone. Welcome to the Zone!

IMO, the Grizzly 10 x 22 is the most "bang for the buck" lathe. For about twice what a good mini-lathe costs, you get about 10 times the lathe. If you take all of the free accessories into consideration, the cost difference is further minimized.

Hoss has just bought one and is going to CNC convert it. He says it cuts hardened ball screws like butter.

Thanks, I've been digging around and found some good info, I'm just starting out so nothing to fancy or expensive yet.

Thanks for the link
