Needing some help, we just introduced a new part into our product line and it is taking off like wild fire. We were figuring we would only need to machine 10 a week at best. However we are averaging 200 a week at minimum and we are loosing money. What we are doing is simply cutting a 1.5" NPT with a kennametal thread mill in cast yellow brass plus some other minor machining. It is taking roughtly 7.5 minutes to cut a single part. I made a fixture that will gut 10 at a time but still averaging 6.75 minutes a part. I cannot change my speeds or feeds. So I was wonering other than thread milling or single point turning is there any other options out there I have talked to a few people with no luck and was hoping someone here might have a idea. |

| You do not need advice on machining you need advice on pricing. You expected demand to be 10 a week and it is 200; obviously you set your price too low. Bump the price up 20 or 50%, this will drop the demand and give you more money per part. Selling parts at a loss is a damn good way to go out of business.

| Bad enough to lose money on 10 parts, extra bad on 200. Now you know why my quotes on this site are where they are at. Last week quoted a job here for $800 that went for $180. I can't run a business on $7/hour labour. Maybe get "that" guy to do your parts.
