Facemill arbor dimension.

Hello,
What standards are there when it comes to facemill arbors?

I recently aquired a 50mm facemill with a 22mm bore and a 100mm one with a 32mm bore. So now I'm shopping for suitable arbors.

My spindle is a size 40 taper with M16 drawbar (ISO40, DIN2080 I believe is the proper name for it) and I found this one 32mm arbor for example. The problem is the W dimension, it's shown as 15.9mm (5/8" ? ) on the drawing but my facemill is only 14.4mm.

On my smaller facemill the 'pockets' for the drivedogs are 10.4mm but the 22mm arbor from the same seller lists the W dimension as 9.57mm ( 6/16" ? ).

So, it seems as it is not only the taper, the drawbar thread, the flange, and the arbor diameter that needs to be correct but also the dimension of the drivedogs for the facemill....this is confusing....

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks!
/Henrik.

Hi,
Thanks, I did find a SECO catalog and they showed dimensions on their facemills that matched mine so I guess my tool aren't bad production parts or something like that.

I guess I could modify the dogs or machine new ones but I really want to get the right ones from the start - hence the question, two 22mm arbors may not be interchangeble?

Usually, when looking at EBAY etc they list the taper and the arbor diameter but if there's also different dimensions on the drivdogs how do I know that I'll get the right one.

Thanks again!
/Henrik.
