I'm pretty new at machining and have only done wood since we've gotten our CNC router a few months ago. Next week I'll be doing our first metal project: cutting out some parts in .032" HH 353 brass sheet. I've Googled around but can't seem to find anything on F&S for small cutters or drills. I'm planning on using a 2-flute upcut .0394" diameter cutter and .065" diameter drill. My machine's slowest speed is 6,000 rpm. Suggestions for F&S? Ramp down or plunge? Should I do the thickness in two cuts or one? I also would like to engrave the part numbers on the pieces but need some sort of automatic height- (or force-?) adjusting cutter (my table is out a few thou and the waste board varies slightly). The only one I can find is the 2L tool which is both too long and very expensive. Other suggestions? -- Rich -- |
