| I was watching the swarf rat videos and they were showing how to setup the Z axis properly using a setup guage held in the spindle chuck/collet. I've ordered a setup guage to do this and more but was wondering what can be used to hold it in place? I think, in the video, they had some kind of articulated arm that was held in the chuck and allowed the guage to be positioned close to the table. Any idea what I should be looking for to buy for this? Thanks. |

| If your setup gauge is my test indicator then SPI makes some nice little holders. The four small ones on the lower right. http://www.swissprec.com/CGI/ISPDFF?PMCTLG=01&PMPAGE=7 This one (upper right) is nice on larger mills, it is bigger then it looks in the catalog. http://www.swissprec.com/CGI/ISPDFF?PMCTLG=01&PMPAGE=10 I would not even consider the one on the lower left of that page, way too many wiggly parts. |
