I'm looking for a small CNC surface grinder for making reeds. The largest blank I expect to cut is 2"x6" and have little shop space. The smallest one I can find is the Syil U2. Are there others out there? I've searched around a bit but can't seem to come up with anyone who'd convert an automatic SG to CNC. And what about software to run a CNC SG? Suggestions? I expect to start from a 2D CAD profile so will need suggestions on how to turn that into g-code as well as whatever controller would use that to run the machine. -- Rich -- |

| http://www.grizzly.com/products/6-x-...-w-Stand/G5963 I would personally buy this unit, add stepper motors from HomeShopCnc http://www.homeshopcnc.com/page5.html run them with the new Gecko 540 (4axis controller) being developed, http://www.geckodrive.com/ and use Mach 3 software to control it http://www.machsupport.com/ The actual conversion and wiring would be a matter of asking and viewing ongoing threads of others here on CNCZone. But that's just me... |
