Carbon Fiber rods

Best place to buy Carbon fiber rods (hollow and thick) in the US?

Here are a few specs on the part I'm trying to make.

- Solid or Hollow
- 15.80 mm OD
- 20" - 24" length

Is it possible to thread carbon fiber ?

Yes but it's still thru paypal, believe me I've beat this horse. I've had nothing but scam problems with paypal and have changed all of my credit cards & bank account info. (long story) and so on. It really sucks for guys like me (which I'm not alone on this one) that smaller really good companies base there store only thru paypal.

Any other non paypal companies out there in the US that's makes this stuff ?

Thanks guys

Chris

I found this company, but don't have exactly what I need. The wall thickness seems a little too thin for my application.

- OD 15 mm (0.059")
- ID 10.85 (0.427")
- Wall thickness 2.15 mm (0.084")

Threading carbon fiber and suppliers of carbon fiber.

We thread carbon fiber here but it is not a really nice looking thread if you are wanting it to look like a bolt you will not get that. It will look more ragged but also depends what the material is maybe. Material I use is straight putruded carbon fiber. On where to buy carbon fiber it depends what you want and how much you want. Lesser quanities you will have to go to a supplier most likely and if you are getting into like 1000 feet I have a supplier for that. You looking for strictly rod cabon fiber or tubes? My email is hawkeye_manufacturing@hotmail.com We work with the archery industry quite a bit with this and also the poolstick industry and knife making industry.
If I can help give me an email and can see what I can do for you. We laso do lot of prototype work along with production runs.

As for threading, I think we're going to make a aluminum insert instead.

" You looking for strictly rod cabon fiber or tubes? "

I'm making a rod support system for a camera, and need something just like this in the picture.

Notice the checker pattern in the carbon fiber. Why is it that the only kind of pattern CF rods I can find are in the hollow style? Do they make a pattern solid carbon fiber rail at 15mm ?

Now I'm also seeing sheets of the CF pattern stuff. Is this something I need to glue on, or am I completely off ?

Chris is this a product you are wanting to produce or something for personal use. Carbon fiber is a very strong and lightweight material and solid carbon fiber rod will be what they call pultruded and they also do this with tubing then they will sometimes epoxy a unidirectional or bi directional carbon fiber cloth to it for added strength for the tubing the solid rod does not need that as it is very strong. Unless you prefer getting your messages here it might be faster and easier to use my email I gave you. If you used a solid carbon fiber rod you could get buy with a smaller diameter I am sure and it also be cheaper. What about golf shafts? I have a supplier for them also that would probally work also. How long are these 15mm rods?

Going with solid rods, seems to be much stronger. I can't have any movement/flex at all, needs to be very stable. I was wanting the pattern for cosmetic purpose if the price isn't that big of a difference. Yes I will be selling these as one of the products I plan to feature. This is why I need to find the best deals.
