It's normal. Stellite is one of the most difficult to cut material. Cutting tool don't like cobalt alloy.
Use very low speed (25m/min), low feedrate (feed per tooth) 0.005xD, low cutting depth (<0.25xD) and strong geometry with a coating (Roughing geometry).
Act like it was a hardened steel (except with the cutting speed).
GOOD Luck. I've already drilled this material. The chip was short, but after 20 holes, the wear on cutting tool was strong. |
