Hi, (Just for size reference, the the mill I'm interested in is the X2.) I've seen lots of CNC mills with enclosures for flood coolant. This seems to work great for them, however when manually milling you can't have the mill fully enclosed. How would you get around this problem without having coolant splashing everywhere ? Thanks. |

| you would use a mini enclosure ie. just around the work area and lower your pressure coming out to just a slow dribble, and wear a rain suit. All so if your one of those guys who unknowingly mills with there mouth open (guilty here) you may want a mask, heh heh

| A handy little fix is a magnetic base with a rod and retort type clamp on the end... clamp a sheet of polycarb to it and you have a splash guard AND some protection from anything flying off.

| Hi: Use mist coolant (compressed air & coolant). They are sub $100, and are very effective for chip removal, and keeping the tool cool. They can be quickly clamped onto a magnetic base, or to the quill hoising. regards

| That vice mounted shield looks like a nice idea, I'll have a look around for one. About mist coolant: Does it not blow the chips "everywhere" ? Also any suggestions for a system ? (That can be bought in the UK, or atleast imported.) |

| Depends on how much air pressure you choose to use. Take your pick: Chips and lot's of cooland on the floor , or chips & not so much coolant on the floor. regards

| Sorry: Mist coolant systems are readily availble. Some are very simple, and some are pricey .Do you have an online source for machine tools & consumeables? Try this one: http://www.wescotool.com/prod2.htm regards

| I myself am not a fan of the mist system you end up breathing in the coolant because the mist just fills your shop I have not used but hear good things about fog buster http://www.fogbuster.com/Frame.htm there big thing is it dose not fill the room with the mist like a fog. If you use a vegetable based coolant the fog should not pose any health problems
