Having trouble with transfer in Nakamura TW-10

Hi all,

I have problem with cut off and transfer in Nakamura Tome TW-10. Once for a while machine bends over the part. Program and machine were working ok, few months ago. We made over 30,000 parts. Now we have the same program, the same machine, I can make 20 parts in a row, dimensions don't move even .0005" and then part is mutilated. It seems right chuck is not always in the same position (C-axis). Did anybody have that kind of problem?? Thank You for any clue

I don't know if you still have your cut off problem but I'm just starting with this forum and wanted to try it out. I have a Nakamura TW-10 that was mutilating the part like you discribed. I think the solution was an ajustment on the Fuji spindle drive that syncronizes the spindle speed to match the sub-spindle to the main spindle.

In addition to synchronizing the speed, has anyone had any luck with synchronizing the positions (C axes) of the main and sub spindles? Im not sure if its even possible, but if it is, does anyone have any insight into the repeatability/accuracy of it?

TW-10 Transfers

We use the M96 code in our programs to synchronize the spindles. The orientation of the collet chucks for hex or square stock is controlled by the Fugi spindle drive unit.

Could you give me a short example of that code?

The part i am working on is a 1.5dia 316 with 5 holes on the face, through the part.

Ideally, i would like to split up the holes, drilling some on the main spindle and some on the sub spindle to minimize cycle time.

In order to do this, the spindles must index accuratly in relation to each other.

We don't use live tooling on our TW-10 but I'm guessing it would be the same as a TW-20. Here is a sample of cross drilling in two locations. Maybe buy using an M19 C0.0 as a starting point you should be able orient the chuck to what ever position you want. Again, I don't know if this works on a TW-10.

Thanks!

Do you know the repeatablility of the C axis? The tech specs say the "least command increment" is .001deg. but says nothing about repeatability.

I need to hold a .008 true position on a 1.25 BC. IF the repeatability is .001deg, that wouldnt be an issue.

Also, i dont imagine the machine comes from the factory with the C0.0 set in relation to each other, does it?

If not, how would one go about making sure they are both set to the same C0 in the machine?

The code I sent is for a part that has a drilled surface that has to be parallel with the square surface of the raw stock with in .005 inch. On our TW-20 machines, parameter 4031 sets the M19. By adjusting this value you can establish the C0.0. With C zero established (/6G00X1.7Z-1.08C166.0) will orient the spindle 166 degrees from the start point. The values for the left side and right side will probably be different.

Buy me a Beer?

hey guys,

soon I'll be programming a tw-10 and a tw-20,
so far I noticed that the previous programmer used sub programs for the live tooling operations.
