Currently I use milling machines and don't have experience with a lathe. Does anyone know a good book on lathe operations?

go to Haas webwite and download a handwork lathe...... it is a very good book.

an owners manual for whatever lathe you will use would be the first book to read !!
then your closest library will probably have a few you can check out ?
then size matters , depending on your work piece !!!
oh !!! you might even see some action shots on youtube !!!

You may be able to find a copy of South Bend's 'How To Run A Lathe' online - it is a decent book.

google the army machining manual, or any old sr high school text or moltrecht's machine shop practice will give a good base
