This is really cool how this is done and im wondering how you figure out the speeds and feeds to do this its shown in this video at 1:23 they spin both spindles and time them just right to where when its done they have a perfect hex ive heard of this done but never been able to find anything on it can anyone help heres the link to the video Thanks JM |

| Sounds like the cutter is making an interrupted cut. That leads me to believe that a)the workpice rotation is synchronized to the cutter rotationand b) If the cutter (looks like a woodroffe cutter) has some of the cutters missing, then this kind of a cut could be possible. Overall, it's what I call gizmotronic....great if you are chugging out those parts 24/7/365 regards |

| yeah its really cool, its called polygonal turning. the live tooling turns at a synced speed relative to the spindle and how many sides you want and how many cutters are on the live tool. search for it on google or on cnczone. its not a perfect polygon, the surfaces just have a large radius and look flat. |
