Hi, New to thread milling and after any advise to make a success of it. Is it best to mill wet or dry? What cutting speeds/chip thicknes works for you? The threads I'm milling are M42x4.5, M24x3, M20x2.5, M16x2, 3/8UNF and 1/2UNF or there abouts. Workpiece material is 1020 to 1045 steel. I'm using Iscar/Taegutec tooling and the CNC is a Yang 450 VMC / Fanuc OM-D. thanks! |

Your speeds and weather to run wet or dry is really a matter of what kind of coating is on your tool. An AlTain coating or something like Iscar 950 runs great dry in mild steel but for Tin coated or uncoated you will want to use coolant |
