In line keyways

Hi All,

I need to make two 18mm keyways 120mm long, from either end of a 300mm long sleeve 60mm id, which need to be inline to accomodate a 600mm sliding shaft with an 18mm keyway its full length.
The sleeve was designed to be keyed the whole length as well, but our slotter has only 200mm stroke.

I'm not sure how I can turn the sleeve over for the 2nd key and align them perfectly.
I will have holes at the end of the keyways for the tool to break into, and was thinking of using a dowel in these holes to run a clock along?

All and any suggestions welcome, thanks.

Clamp a ""V" Block to the O.D. and Indicate it in, when you turn your part around , indicate the bottom of the "V" block again for radial alignment....works for me........

You could cut the full length like the way rifling is cut in a barrel.
A single cutter on a head which can be adjusted for depth of cut with a screw or shims. The cutter head is easily removed from the pull rod for the return stroke adjusted and put back in place to make a cut.
Could be setup in a larger lathe, or a simple 2 by 4 frame, and pulled by hand.

Here is a drawing of an old key-seating machine, maybe give you some ideas.
