lead screw nuts wanted

Hi I'm building my first CNC using 1" lead screws & need nuts to suit (4)
4 would be good these are 4 threads per inch, new price is prohibitive as this is supposed to be experimental, the screws arew an old 4 poster car hoist
worn but still serviceable for my job as loading is minimal.

You could cast your nuts from Moglice, or your own epoxy-graphite/teflon powwder mix.

If you have a piece of the lead screw left over you can use it to make a tap that will cut throught delrin. You will have to tapper the end and add some deep grooves down the sides. When you make the grooves try to keep a clean 90 degree edge on the leading side.

If you have a lathe, you could make your own acme nuts that would fit better and last longer than purchase items. Chances are, your lead screws are worn, and new nuts are likely to be loose. Of course the ideal solution would be to have your leadscrews reground and then fit custom nuts to them because if they are worn, they will be more worn in the area where they are most used.
