I have aquired all the parts of an NSK Astro E400 spindle and am starting to test run. The NE52 controller lights up OK with a readout of 0. With the motor connected there is no response. Do I need an air supply connected to start-up? I have been unable to locate a user manual on the web. If anyone has relevant information for this system it would be very welcome. Martin |

The NSK manual suggests air pressure between 3-5 kg/cm2 or 42-71 PSI to run motor. If you trip internal circuit breaker, it will reset after approx. 20 minutes. One interesting tidbit from the manual,"Never extend tooling more than 13mm from base of collet cap as this will cause vibration on the tooling and good finish of product will not be achieved." 250V T5A fuses for 100-120 VAC Operation 250V T2.5A fuses for 220-240 VAC Operation If running under 2000 rpm, buy the speed reducer(ARG-01E or ARG-02E) to boost torque at low speeds. Hope this helps. Jack |

| Thanks for the info Jack. The posting has been sitting for a while so I have already aquired a "silent" compressor and it fired up OK. I am running it with a 110V transformer at the moment. I tried swapping the fuse arrangement to 240V but the configurations I tried popped the fuses, so after a couple of attempts I gave up for fear of damaging the unit. Can you give me the fuse arrangement for the fuse clip. I don't know how big the manual is but if feasible I would really appreciate a scan/copy for future reference. I have almost completed the build of a high precision mill. The initial set up and alignment look promising so over the next weekend I hope to do some test cutting! Regards Martin |

Martin, The manual has very few pages. I would be happy to mail you a copy. Please send a private message with your mailing address. One very important thing to consider is that the air coming from your compressor needs to be dry. Consider investing in a dryer. Also, you might want to rent a nitrogen tank to run/test the spindle in the meantime. Moisture will ruin your spindle. Jack |
