1/2-8 2 start acme tap? Anybody know where to get one?

as the title says, I'm looking for a 1/2-8 2-start tap. Does anybody know where to find one? I tried making my own, but it is cutting loose threads. I have tried deburring the edges of the tap but it still cuts loose. It is also extremely hard to turn when tapping. I have decided It would be best just to buy one. Thanks.

I think you may have to have it made. I doubt you will find it on the shelf. You may have to cut them to old fashioned way.

http://tracytools.com/tapsanddiesacme.htm is the only place i can think of that has acme taps, i dont think they list 2 start, but might be worth to ask. Only thing is that they are in U.K.

what material are you tring to tap? Have you tried hardening the tap?

also expect to pay close to $150-200 for 2 start tap(just from what i have seen)

Thanks guys. I just got a quote from e-taps. For 2 taps, a rougher and a finisher, it will be $172.

I know that you can buy a two stage tap that will cost you less than half of your other
price @ enco.
