| Hello All, i'm pretty new here but have already found this to be an awesome community!! I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on cut knurling, I work in a small production shop and was wondering if cut knurling 303 stainless would be any better than the normal way, and I just like to learn new things! ^_^ thanks! |

| Well it depends on the requirement and also the type of knurl you are needing to do. Time becomes the factor when you start cutting knurls verses the traditional way of using a knurl tool. I would contact my local tool vendor and have them come in to guide you with proper tool selection, speeds and feeds. It can be done just need to get the right tool to do the job and everything should go ok. Also make sure you use cutting oil coolant will give you big problems. |

| Yes cut knurling is way, way better than the very outdated form knurling, i use cut knurls on everything from Ali to 316. Apart from the initial cost of buying the tools/wheels i can set up quicker, repeat the knurl time and time again and run the job 5 to 6 times faster. there is also less strain created on the CNC ballscrews etc..
