Getting started in DeskCNC

I have the DeskCNC program working (apparently) and I have several short programs ready to go. BUT, when I try to load a program. the screen simply flashes and a message comes up and says Program completed. I am obviously missing a keystroke or two. I am a complete newby on this, so be gentle.
