My solution to this has been to use a center drill, and turn the chamfering part to the correct angle on the lathe using some of the fancy turning tool tips that will allow you to machine HSS. After I have the correct angle, I just hand grind some clearance as the turned surface would just rub.
If the center drill is not long enough, you can drill up the centre of one with a carbide drill, then put a 6mm (tapping) drill up the middle, and weld at the end that doesn't matter. Any good toolmaker should be able to knock one up in an hour.![]()
