Hi. I would like to mark a round pvc pipe 50 mm in diameter to drill holes say every 3 cm apart the whole length of the pipe top bottom side to side, my problem is i would like to know how i can make a simple jig, i am not any kind of engineer or anything, i thought to post here for you guys are all experts, and would know how i can make a simple jig to get accurate markings on the pipe. I have thought about getting a 60 mm pipe, make the markings manually on the 60mm, and then put the 50mm inside the 60 mm, that way i can mark away easily. Problem is, i cannot find 60mm diameter pipes of any kind anywhere, or am i not looking at the right place, i am in South-Africa, where can i look for something like that or is there an easier way? Thanks, btw, it's for personal hobby purposes. |

| How long is each pipe section? How big are the holes? Where are the hole patterns in relation to the pipe ends? DC

| Make a long trough out of wood that the pipe just fits in. Drill one hole in the pipe and have a hole in the side of the trough that lines up. Put a pin through these holes and your pipe is fixed in the trough. Now lay out all the other holes using the sides of the trough as a reference. Alternatively you can make a shoe that slides along the top of the trough and fix a small bench drill onto this. Then you just have marks along the side of the trough, slide the shoe/drill along and drill holes at each mark.
