I'm in the market for miniature taps and dies, but don't really know how to determine the size I need. I make equipment for video/photo camera's and was recently making a nikon F mount out of aluminum. The original mount has 3 screws and a locking pin. I'm trying to find out what size tap and die I need for this job. I've attached a few pictures showing the screw, mount, and measurements. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. ![]() Chris |

| I dont know if you will be able to find a set or not, all camera stuff will be metric I would assume. You should be able to buy them individual or in taper, plug, bottoming sets of 3 taps. Any tooling supplier worth its salt should be able to get them with little trouble, I know that all of my suppliers can get really small taps. So small that you cant even see them (then how do you know its even there?) I would think that KBC tools, or Travers should stock them and they ship anywere. hope it helps

| I just checked and KBC has a metric set that starts at 3mm (page 92), they also have 2mm X .4 in singles on page 102,103 of the online cataloge. Damn they go down to 1.6mm X .35. Travers has them also, it would be a lot cheaper to buy the ones you need individualy instead of a set.
