I usualy do Diamond Machining (google it), but I found a Turret Mill in the machine shop that no- one was using (and never had) so, in true Engineer style, I done an AutoCAD drawing of a simple part... imported it as a dxf into Dolphin CAD, exported it as a Dolphin CAM file, Post Processed it and stuck it into the Turret Mill.

Putting a big inky pen into the tool holder, I checked it was going where I wanted it to on a bit of cardboard.

I then stuck a real tool into the holder and pressed the big green button lol

I was scared! but it worked! my first ever CND part )))))))

I know, it's only a simple thing, but the sense of achievement was awesome! the more I read about this machine, the more impressed I am! it can do anything! I can't beleive no- one was using it.

I'm gonna bead blast it then Diamond Turn it so it looks nicer.. here's some piccies (sorry for ranting, but it's me first ever CND'd part on a conventional Mill)... What to make next!

We have three of the ProtoTrak mills. I think they are great and a piece of cake to operate. Nice work!!

Nice work. What kind of clamps are those? They look handy.

Not sure, I had a look at them and it says "LENZKES" on them- they are really low profile so I googled it and got:

It's under their Catalogue section as an "FL10"

I just found the thingies in the Machine Shop.. no- one else uses the machine shop which seemed a shame, so I just thought I'd experiment in me spare time they seemed quite nifty so I thought everyone would use these things (am new to conventional machininng).

Oh, I have nothing to do with this company btw.
