Use my G.I. bill for machining education

Hello everyone,

This is my very first post @ CNC Zone...!

I am a Navy veteran who lives in Akron,OH. (I see there are many NE Ohioans here) I was a boiler tech in the Navy, and now have a great career as a Stationary Engineer (power plant operator) I have one year left to use my G.I. bill before it expires, and would like to use it to gain knowledge in machining, not for a career change, but more for general self improvement, and hobbyist type work.
I checked out some local schools, including Akron Machining institute, but my wife and I have two small children, and both work, so most local courses require more time than I can squeeze out of my tight schedule.

Does anyone know of any online or correspondence type courses for machining that are covered under the G.I. bill?

Does anyone at the group have any suggestions or advice for machining schools or use of the G.I. bill?

Does anyone know how I can "fudge" the paperwork and just use that money to buy a nice 14x40 lathe and a knee mill for my garage, and just learn on my own!...

After I get out of Leavenworth for fraud, I can start my machining education...

There is a course advertised in Home Shop Machinist.....where a requirement of the course includes a purchase of a lathe. Check it out!

I checked out the Home Shop Machinist website, and signed up for a subscription. It appears to be a must have for the home machinist. In the meantime, if you or someone else has a recent issue handy, could you please look up the name of the school for me. It sound like just the thing I am looking for! Thanks again.
