Hello,
I really want to get a CNC Mill and have never worked with one. Also metal working is just a hobby (just started with a lathe) for me as I'm actually an IT manager.
Before I buy a mill I need to learn more about them so I'm looking for user recommended sites, book, videos and DVDs that will help take a beginner to a higher level even if it's only 2 or 3 steps higher so I can make a better buying decision. I'm interested in learning about G and M codes, controllers, and the various types of mills. Basiclly anything a beginner would need to know. Because of my work schedule and location trying to go to a course at a college like Ivy Tech is not really possible so it's going to be "home" training.
Since I'm sure there are/were a lot of beginners on this site I thought I would ask what worked for you. I don't mind spending the money on materials as long as they are worth the money.
I've also been looking at a lot of CNC mills and figure my budget for a mill will be about 15k-20k. Yes I know this is a lot for a hobby but I'm hoping I can turn it into additional income later down the road so hopefully if I'm armed with the information I can make a good choice in my purchase.
If this is in the wrong forum I apologize and if so please point me to the right place.
Thanks in advance.
