What shoes do you guys wear in the shop? I can't fine a shoe or boot that works well with the aluminum chips that are constantly all over my floor. I'm always tracking chips into the house, and my 3 girls don't like it much. Your standard work boot or shoe with a waffle tread carries the chips everywhere and tennis shoes don't last long. Any suggestions? |

| Locate a piece of floor grating to stand on when near the machine and try to keep the rest of the shop swept up. You can use a small piece of expanded metal to scrape your shoes/boots before you go into the house but this will only get the bigger stuff. I think the best move would be to have a pair of shop shoes that are removed at the door. Either that or build a bath and small kitchen in your shop - then you would only need to go in to go to bed. ![]() Scott

| Man I'm in and out of the house too many times to take my shoes off every time I need to go in. Bummer. I was hoping there was a shoe out there that would work well with the chips. I don't have a problem cleaning my shoes before going in, but chips always manage to get in the house anyway. My mill doesn't have an inclosure, so it really would be impossible to keep the floor clean ALL the time as a solution. My quest continues... |

| Slip-On shoes work for me. I just slip them off before I leave the shop and back on when I come back in. Mine are just running shoes with no laces. No matter what that metal gets all over the place tho. I have an enclosure and it still gets all over my clothes and shoes, and then in the house. |

| Luke - I recently replaced my old work boots with some like you describe - non aggressive tread, relatively smooth - kinda like tennis shoes only these are steel toe work boots. They seem worse than the more aggressive tread! They hold and spread the small chips which are much worse to discover hidden in the carpet with your bare feet than the larger ones in my opinion! | I kind of figured that would happen with a "no tread" boot/shoe because they use a softer material to make up for the lack of tread. (At least the Redwing boots I've looked at do) Can't go to a cowboy boot, they kill your feet on concrete and it's a good way to fall on your tush. |

| I wear "slippers" ie house shoes? with the backs broken down and just slip em off at the door.....then I forget and and walk all manner of crud into the hallway....then up the stairs and everywhere. Personally I see no cure on the horizon at home! Unless I move the machines to the top of the house and then walk the crud out
