Is there any way to cut G10 material ( http://www1.mscdirect.com/MSDS/MSDS0...8-20040908.PDF ) without using metal tools? I have an order from a company that does MRI & Electromagnetic processes - they cannot have any metal fragments imbedded into the material. Any advice/tips would be appreciated. |

| Thank you all for your suggestions. The problem with using waterjet is some work on it cannot be done in 2D machining. The kit of parts includes parts that have square keyways in them, something that can only be cut with an end mill. If that wasn't bad enough, there are 4-40 and 8-32 threaded holes that are required (one solution for that may be counterboring the locations and press-fitting stainless steel threaded inserts). After more research, I've found some suppliers that sell ceramic inserts, (diamond would perhaps work as well) such as: http://www.greenleafcorporation.com/ If we go through with the work order, I will update our results. |
