| Any non-rolling element bearing is considered to be a sleeve bearing. All the turbo's I've ever seen/am familiar with use oil pressure fed sleeve bearings which are not really or readily preloadable. Not being a turbo bearing expert, I'm merely pointing out areas of general concern that should be investigated if you or anyone plans to adapt an automotive turbo for machine tool use. If it works, fine. If it doesn't, you have some root causal areas to concern yourselves with addressing |
