I don't know of any benchtop power hacksaws or reciprocating saw other than a scroll saw, which are available from Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. These may not be suitable for your requirements. I'm going to guess that a horizontal bandsaw will suit your requirements. There are many available. If you post your material shape, size, type, and cut geometry, somebody can recommend a particular model. Justin

do you need a hacksaw? the bandsaw being 100% duty cycle and cheaper to make as largely replace the hacksaw, you can get them in a benchtop (portable) style as well. if you need the greater accuracy of the hacksaw maybe a cold saw? I don't where do to send you for a power hacksaw. I made one in high school but scraped it a few years ago when i got my bandsaw

Hi I found a lead for the Keller 601 but at a price of $1300.00 not to sure about it. Also the SEIG G1 but not sure were to get one of those. I was thinking a power hacksaw would be self tending that it could cut a pc on its own with gravity feed were a bandsaw i would have to feed by hand and I don't like the bandsaw blades get dull quick and are pricey were hacksaw blades are much cheaper and i think would last longer. I plan to cut 1-1/2" 12l14 round some 1018 and small dia aluminum. Just thinking a small bench power hacksaw would be worth a try. Thanks for the replys and your insite Frank

cheap horizontal bandsaws are gravity fed (but are regulated with hydraulics) cutting 12L14, 1018, and aluminum rounds...a horizontal bandsaw with the proper surface speed will last a very long time. Make sure you are looking at horizontal, metal cutting bandsaws, not vertical bandsaws meant for wood.
