I am fedup with my Chinese TiN coated drills. They never seem to drill a hole the size they are stated, and visibly wobble. Plus are not all that well ground IMO. The ones I use at work, the same size, cut much easier. I am wanting to buy a nicer quality of USA made bits. Little Machine Shop now carries a 115 piece set of jobber drills from Republic Drill, made in the USA. Here is a link: http://www.littlemachineshop.com/pro...ProductID=2826 Has anybody used Republic drill products? What is your impression of the quality? |

| Try Guhring, Titex, Precision Twist, OSG, ThunderBit, Seco Carboloy (solid carbide) and the MSC Catalog. www.mscdirect.com You will pay a good dollar, but get your moneys worth 10 fold. The Guhring is top notch and no as pricey as Solid Carbide. 118 split point for soft material (aluminums, plastics, and 400 series Stainless) 135 split point for harder materials (300, Mild Steels, 4140's) 140 split point for very hard materials (Inconels, Monels, Waspoloys ect) Good Luck

| If you are in the Chicago area (Melrose Park) Republic Drill has a sales office open to the public. They sell all types of tools. Our shop is a few blocks away and we buy stuff directly from them. Nice guys over there and you can get some really good deals on things once in a while. (like returns / open boxes / over stock) http://www.republicdrill.com/contact/ I can't personaly speak to their quality, but that price is a lot less than listed in their online catalog, but then again I walked in and bought some solid carbide 1/8" round nose Frued router bits from them for about 1/5th the price I paid at Lowes. (I think they like us) |
