Hi all,

I am very new to machine shop job. I have problem with cutting chamfer and countershink, anyone please show me how to cut them and if there is any formular, tell me as well. thanks alot.

Try this:

Draw hole and chamfer desired.

Reverse engineer cutter depth via use of CAD program.

On another layer, superimpose cutter shape on hole via CAD.

"Lift" cutter out of hole on CAD until tip is lined up with surface of part.

Determine depth of cut via CAD.

No CAD?

Do the same as above only with calculations by hand using normal trigonometry functions.

You can also do calculations with pencil and paper and old style mechanical drafting techniques. That is how we did it before PC's and CAD.
