    tool life relations

    Hi!
Is tool life expressed more preciselly in time units [min] or length units[m], and why?

I've been searching the net concerning this question and I got zero results.
The only thing I found is a small article saying that the tool life expressed in lentgh units will be used used more oftenly in the future, and a graph depicting tool life in feed [m] dependent on the cutting speed.

Thank you for your help in advance.

I tend to think the more accurate meaning is dollars per part.

I think that tool life is more expressed in time units [min]. The time in the Taylor equation of tool life is expressed on minute.
