I've a nice job: R&D manager for a cutting tool company located in Europa. Every day, I test cutting tool, which have different carbide, different geometry, different coating. With the results, I choose the best parameters for the cutting tool.
The machined materials are often stainless steel 316-l, steel and hardened steel. Sometimes, the material for the tests are super alloy like Inconel 718, the best enemy for the cutting tool.
The determination of the best tool and the best cutting parameters for one material isnít a problem for me, but the tool path are often very basic. I donít use CAD/CAM and if Iíve a complex shape to do, Iím lost.
