I was wondering if anyone could point out the pro and cons between an electric 1hp trim router and a pnuematic router. ( i.e. Die grinder) My main question is that of torque. AND PLEASE!! lets not get into a long winded discussion about the difference between torque and h.p. Im talking about a tool not slowing down when the feedrate is increased. And if you think one has any benefits over the other. Im cutting corian with my router. Thanks for any input. |

| Is negafit a word, negative benefit; that is what I think air drive spindles have. I was looking at some by Air Turbine Tools; http://www.airturbinetools.com/html/...es/650XJS.html rated at 1.4hp, 40,000 rpm with a 1/4" collet. Very compact at about 7 inches long, 3 inches diameter and not too noisy at 62 db. But the negative benefit is the air consumption; 23 cfm at 90psi. A 23 cfm piston compressor is going to be very big and very noisy, a rotary screw compressor will not be so big or noisy but it will cost plenty. Then you have to get the chiller to dry the air because it has to be clean, dry and oil free. |

| The only hassle is they use a LOT of air. This one only needs 4 CFM, but do you really want your compressor running constantly every time you use your machine? http://www.beavertools.com/detail.aspx?ID=54
