    Aluminum supplier

Looking for some plate aluminum, I found one source for smaller plates and I didn't know if anyone else had some place they can recommend.

    I am looking for a 3/8" 6061 plate that is 1' x 2'.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

E-Bay - contact one of the listed vendors if you don't see what you want. They will fix you up.

Talk to a local machine shop (go there and talk to the folks face to face - calling usually ends up in a "No" response). They likely have a partial they will sell you for a decent price. If they say no - try another.

The bad thing about ordering online is shipping and handling charges. YOu can find AL for a decent per pound price, but add the shipping and it can get a lot more expensive. Going local is the way to go, I think.

One other suggestion... try your local metal scrapyard. if theres one around you. all big cities have some. look in the yellow pages. you probly wont find a piece that big unless it has some holes already drilled in it but if your just making a fixture or something maybe you could use a piece thats already been machined some. Every time I go to the yard I find alot of good t6 pieces for my projects.they often keep all the good aluminum in one area. you may find other stuff you need too! I havent had a wasted trip yet. of course ask permission and be careful these arent the safest places. jagged metal everywhere, mud, forklifts and trucks, torches, unstable piles of junk, cranes swinging big magnets, hot foundry, crushers, shears, bees, etc. etc. but hey the price is right and no shipping! and they'll even pay you for your swarf and your empty cans!
