I’m looking at some tapping attachments for my CNC mill (HAAS VF3) I’m wondering about the synchroflex type or tapping heads? Which one is more reliable and which system works better? I’ve always done the rigid tap on the machine but am sick of worrying about the tap breaking. So I thought I would ask some of you for your experiences with tapping attachments. thanks Hele63 |

| i also run a vf3. but i disagree with the tapping attachments. i always had alot better luck with the rigid tapping. i also only run aluminum in my mill so i dont encounter the ever so disappointing broken tap too often. i had some problems early on with the rigid tapping till i switched over to the speed spiral style taps. ever since i havent had a problem. but runing them in a spring style attachment will most likely cause more breakage for those style taps.

| Are you worried just because you're "worried", or have you had a lot of problems breaking taps in rigid tap? A VF3 is more than capable of rigid tapping and I've always used this function on them in all types of materials. If you're breaking a lot of taps, I suspect you may have some other issues causing this. I'd say, "rigid tap away...."
